Iberia Parish Gustav/Ike Elevation Funding Program Sign-Ups Begins

Sign-up Period runs June 7 – September 6, 2011

NEW IBERIA – Sign-up cards will be available soon for homeowners in Iberia Parish interested in receiving elevation funding through the parish.

Iberia Parish is beginning two programs to provide assistance to homeowners whose homes were flooded as a result of rising water from Hurricane Gustav and/or Ike and either desire to elevate their homes, or have recently elevated. These programs kick off in June with three informational meetings, slated for June 7, June 9 and June 14 in the parish. The Foundation Reconstruction Program and the Homeowner Compensation Program both utilize Community Development Block Grant funding to assist Iberia Parish residents.

Residents are encouraged to attend one of the three informational meetings to gain more information.  All interested Iberia Parish homeowners will need to sign up within a 90-day period that begins after the first public meeting, making the deadline to indicate interest in the program September 6, 2011. Sign-up cards will be available at each of the informational meetings. Residents should note that mobile homes, rental properties and multi-family homes are not eligible for either program.

The sign-up cards, the program guidelines for each of the funding programs, and information about upcoming meetings is posted at www.iberiaparishgovernment.com. In addition, municipal sites across the parish will have sign-up cards available at their offices for residents unable to attend any of the informational meetings. The sign-up cards will be available to residents starting on June 7 at: 

• Iberia Parish Courthouse 4^th Floor
• Lydia Library
• Delcambre Town Hall

Once residents have signed up for consideration in the program, they will be directly contacted by phone to schedule individual meetings to begin the full application process. The informational meetings are scheduled for the times, dates and locations below.
