Registration for the Lafayette Parish School System's high quality pre-kindergarten program begins Thursday, April 8, at 8:30 a.m. at Truman Montessori Preschool and the Vermilion Conference Center (VCC).
The Lafayette Parish School System provides quality pre-kindergarten education to children who qualify for free/reduced lunch and who will be four years old on or before September 30, 2010. Children who do not qualify for free/reduced lunch may attend, but must pay tuition of $330 per month, or $3,300.00 per school year.
We offer Montessori, French Immersion, Spanish Immersion, and Arts and Technology programs, as well as a traditional Pre-K program. Transportation and Before/After School Child Care are available upon request, as are special educational opportunities for parents. We offer classes at Katharine Drexel, Green T. Lindon, Ernest Gallet, Truman Montessori School, J. Wallace James Arts & Technology School, J. W. Faulk, Evangeline, Prairie and Alice Boucher elementary schools. All slots are awarded by random lottery. Families interested in the Pre-K program for four-year-olds must apply online at www.lafayettechoice.com <http://www.lafayettechoice.com> in addition to completing the registration packet. Registration can be completed after April 8, 2010, but only at the VCC. In order to be eligible for the lottery, the online application and registration packet must be complete by May 6, 2010.
LPSS also offers two classes of Pre-K for three-year-olds at Truman Montessori. This class is open to students throughout the parish. There also are two classes for three-year-olds offered at Alice Boucher Elementary, for children zoned for that school only.
