Woman arrested after leading officers on high-speed chase through several Acadiana parishes

UPDATE: A Breaux Bridge woman led multiple police agencies on a high speed chase where she struck a state police patrol unit before being stopped and arrested.

According to police, the chase began on I-10 westbound in Iowa, La. around 2:19 p.m. Monday when Iowa Police attempted to pull over Ashley Dejean of Breaux Bridge for speeding.

When she refused, police say a chase ensued. 

It ended when Dejean crashed her vehicle into a State Police unit on I-10 at the  LA 95 on-ramp in Duson; police had to set out road spikes in an effort to stop the vehicle. 

No police officers were injured, however Dejean needed assistance getting out of the vehicle following the impac, police said. 

Iowa police have charged Dejean with speeding, careless operation , aggravated flight and driving under suspension.

Her State Police charges include reckless operation, possession of stolen things, numerous traffic violations and an arrest warrant for access device fraud. 

Police say Dejean was hospitalized following the crash, and will be booked into a local jail upon her release.  

ORIGINAL: DUSON, La. (KLFY)- A high-speed chase that began in Iowa, La., ended after a driver crashed into a state police unit on Interstate 10 west at La. 95 in Duson this afternoon. Master Trooper Brooks David said the trooper was not injured on the crash.

However, female driver of the fleeing vehicle  needed assistance getting out of the car, David said.

The entrance ramp of La. 95 is closed. Drivers are asked to used another route at this time.
