After the fire: Don's Specialty Meats, Carencro location rises again

CARENCRO, La. (KLFY) More than a year after fire gutted Don's Specialty Meats in Carencro,  the structure for the new location is near completion and owner Mark Coles is prepping to re-open.

Though no official re-opening date has been announced, Coles announced via Facebook that crews have been working around the clock.

On October 2, 2016 Don's Speciality Meats in Carencro was destroyed by a fire.

An employee said they were preparing for the huge Sunday lunch crowd when they noticed smoke coming from the roof near the bbq pit area and evacuated the building immediately.

It happened around  9 a.m. and fire crews from Carencro, Duson and the St. Landry Parish area responded to the call at the intersection of Hwy.104 and Hwy 726 in Carencro.

The fire was ruled accidental following an investigation by the Carencro Fire Department after reports suggested that an employee left the grill unattended during a bathroom break.
