The proposal would prohibit anyone under the age of 21 from buying, selling or even possessing tobacco products. Tuesday, the bill was assigned to the House Criminal Justice Committee for further discussion.
Mother Charged in the Death of Her Own Eight Month Old Baby
Thirty one yeal old Natalie Thorton of Carencro tells Police she left her daughter in the car while she went inside her residence. She says the eight month old was inside the car unattended for approximately five hours with the heater turned on.

Two Dead One Injured in Single Vehicle Crash
Police say Jimmie Lecoq was traveling East on U.S. 190 West of Basile in Acadia Parish when she over corrected, causing her vehicle to travel off the right side of the highway landing in a ditch. The vehicle then struck a tree only to land in another ditch.

A New Iberia Murder Suspect is Back Behind Bars
Akeem Evans, one of the three men arrested in the shooting death, of prominent New Iberia businessman, Sydney Long, escaped from custody over the weekend. Evans was recaptured hours later, and is now back in custody.

Two Arrested in Carencro Robbery
Two people are in jail cells tonight after Carencro Police say they robbed a Shop Rite in the 3500 block of North University. Arrested were 22 year old Joshua Peltier of Carencro and 27 year old Jimmy Francis of Carencro.
