Former Broadcaster and Local Businessman Jim Olivier Passes Away

Posted:

It's with great sadness that we share with you, news of the death of Jim Olivier. Jim was a friend and co-worker to all of us who have worked at TV 10 since the seventies.   He was also the friend who woke up Acadiana for so many years, as the host of Passe Partout; and shared the lunch hour with the meet your neighbor program. Jim was proud of his Cajun heritage and reveled in the richness of its culture. Everyone who knew him delighted in the stories he told about life; normally making himself the brunt of the joke.

As you have probably heard in his commercials, after leaving broadcasting, Jim owned a successful home siding company.  He was a happy man, running "his company", loving his wife and daughters, and enjoying his many friends.

Jim's unexpected death has stunned all who knew him.  Jim was 58 years old.  Our prayers and condolences are with his wife, Anna, and the rest of his family.

Visitation for Jim will be held this Wednesday afternoon at Fountain Memorial Gardens in Lafayette from 3:00pm until 10:00pm, then again on Thursday from 8:30pm until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you donate to the Women Helping Others Foundation, also known as W.H.O.

Our friend and yours, Jim Olivier, will be deeply missed.
