The Big Fix Rig Is In Lafayette

It's called the Big Fix Rig, and it could be the solution to Acadiana's pet overpopulation problem.

The Big Fix Rig is a mobile veterinary clinic that has traveled across the country providing low cost spaying and neutering services to pet owners, and much more, and now it's headed to Lafayette.

The Big Fix Rig has logged thousands of miles across the country and now thanks to the efforts of Lafayette Animal Aid and the Wild Cat Foundation, along with the Acadiana Humane Society, the rig is headed here.

Here's how it works: the mobile clinic's veterinary staff teams up with local veterinarians to schedule appointments, perform surgeries, provide medical supplies, and maintain medical records for the animal patients.

It's an effective way to stop wild cat colonies, which can be found throughout our area, from multiplying.

One main goal of the Big Fix Rig is to reduce the overpopulation problem among Acadiana's feral cat population, but Acadiana pet owners will also have the opportunity to have their dogs and cats spayed or neutered, as well.

The Big Fix Rig is set to arrive next week. It will set up shop in the Wal-Mart parking lot, at the intersection of Pinhook and Verot School Rd. in Lafayette.

Although the rig's arrival is still a few days away, you can now schedule an appointment for your pet, or you can volunteer to sponsor spaying and neutering for one of the many feral cat colonies in the area.

The Big Fix Rig will be in Lafayette for one month only, through the end of March.

Cats may be spayed or neutered for $10 and dogs for $20.

Although the rig won't arrive until next week, you can call 371-9865 now to make an appointment.

Tax deductible contributions are also being accepted at Gulf Coast Bank.
