It's the latest method thieves are using to steal your personal information and ultimately your hard earned money. And you can fall victim simply by walking through a store or airport.

So many of us think if we are careful in guarding our personal information we can prevent it from being stolen.  But as we've gotten smarter about identity theft so have the crooks.

A new scanner is able to pick up information through RFID waves which are put out by some credit and debit cards and even your passport.

So by just walking in a crowded area nearly 140 million people are at risk for having their name, entire credit card number, and expiration date stolen.

Local experts say it's not causing too many problems in Acadiana yet, but when it comes to your personal information and traveling, it's always better to be overly cautious.
