State Police Press Release

Suspect Arrested in Disturbance

Today (March 17) , troopers with Louisiana State Police Region 2 detectives arrested Lisa Broussard in reference to a disturbance that occurred on March 15, 2010, at 153 Paulette Lane in Crowley.

During the investigation troopers learned that Broussard drove to her mother's house which had burned in the early morning hours of March 15, 2010.  When she arrived at the house she was approached by a relative, Rebecca Deville.  Deville and Broussard got into a physical altercation while Broussard was still in the driver's seat of the vehicle.  Broussard's vehicle was in reverse and during the altercation her foot came off of the brake causing the vehicle to travel backwards.  Broussard's vehicle traveled over Deville then Broussard left the area.  Broussard was driving erratically as she left the area. She was subsequently stopped by a state fire marshal, who was at the scene, and detained.

Troopers found no evidence to support the fact that Broussard intentionally ran over Deville.  They did however find evidence that indicated Broussard was negligent in her acts.  Based on their findings, troopers obtained a warrant for Broussard's arrest.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. this morning, Broussard surrendered to troopers.  She was booked into the Acadia Parish Correctional Center for one count of Reckless Operation and one count of Negligent Injuring.   The case remains under investigation.

An Acadia Parish Sheriff's Deputy is now on administrative leave without pay, accused of being the driver behind the wheel of a vehicle that ran over a woman.

State police tell us the incident happened following a house fire on Paulette Road in Crowley.

Troopers say after the fire, there was some type of argument between the dispatcher, Lisa Broussard and the resident now identified as Rebecca Deville.

After the fight, authorities tell us the Broussard who was off duty, attempted to leave the scene and ran over the victim.

Troopers are still investigating the situation and charges are pending.
