Lafayette Police have now cited the person accused of running into one of their officers while he was escorting floats to a Mardi Gras parade.
The officer was hospitalized Saturday after a car knocked him off of his motorcycle.
The driver of the car that hit him is now cited with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and no child restraint.
The injured police officer is now recovering back at home.
In Lafayette, a police officer is recovering after getting injured trying to escort several floats to their parade routes earlier Saturday.
According to police, the officer was on his motorcycle when he was struck by a car on 8th and East Simcoe headed towards the parade route on Louisiana Avenue.
Police say the vehicle made a left at a stop sign and crashed into him.
The officer was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries and stayed overnight for observation.
Three passengers and a driver were also in the other vehicle but were not hurt. Police say the officer reportedly had his sirens and lights on as he escorted the floats.
No citations have been give and officers say drivers should be alert and aware this time of year.
