Opelousas Haiti Benefit Concert

Posted:

A benefit concert held in Opelousas Wednesday night is dedicating all proceeds to the relief efforts in Haiti. This was also the first concert series held inside the newly renovated Delta Grand building.

It was a concert sure to uplift the spirits of those in attendance, and hopefully do the same for those who've suffered a devastating tragedy.

As the relief aid pours in to Haiti after the earthquake, the Opelousas religious community has been collecting special offerings, and held a benefit concert Wednesday, with donations going to Haiti. Performances included Opelousas own true divine intervention and true praise community choir.

Organizers call it a heart to heart concert, with hearts in Opelousas reaching out to hearts all the way in Haiti.

This was also the first time the remodeled Delta Grand has hosted a concert. It will soon be the home to productions from the Opelousas Little Theater, so officials were also on hand to gauge the performance.

We're told St. Landry Parish officials normally charge $500 per night to hold an event at the Delta Grand.

But Wednesday, they allowed the concert to be held, free of charge.
