NEW ROADS, La. (AP) - New Roads Police Chief Kevin McDonald says the findings in a police investigation of a fatal traffic wreck have been forwarded to the district attorney.
McDonald said the investigation showed 23-year-old Victoria Jean Gosserand of Ventress was driving at a "high rate of speed" on Dec. 23 when she ran a red light hitting a car driven by 23-year-old Kyle Riviere.
McDonald said Riviere's passenger, 23-year-old Terri Parker, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Gosserand was booked with vehicular homicide, second-offense DWI and negligent vehicle injuring.
She was released from jail on Dec. 24 after posting a $100,000 bond.
District Attorney Ricky Ward tells The Advocate that the case will be reviewed by a grand jury.
