LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A pharmacy owner in Grand Couteau has pleaded guilty to federal drug and money laundering charges in the investigation of a prescription fraud scheme.
Prosecutors say the scheme involved filling illegal prescriptions for a Panama-based company that sold drugs over the Internet, netting at least $200,000.
Paul Williams Jr. pleaded guilty Friday in Lafayette and agreed to forfeit the proceeds. He is the owner of Grand Coteau Prescription Shoppe. His defense attorney, William Goode, wouldn't comment on the plea, but said Williams has given up his pharmacist license.
Williams faces up to 13 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.
