Drug Ring Busted

Posted:

Thursday, local and federal investigators announced they have broken up yet another Hub City drug ring, arresting twelve suspects this week.

But, authorities say they are still on the lookout for one more.

Thirty year old Courtland Malbrough remains on the loose as he and those already arrested are facing some federal charges.

Residents across from a home on Rosewood Drive in Lafayette are relieved after local and federal detectives  arrived early this week arresting two of their neighbors for being involved in a major drug trafficking ring known as the Truman Cartel or the Four Trey's.

Ten others were also picked up during the raid spawning from a near three year investigation, with one still on the loose.

If you combine all the suspect's criminal history they total one hundred ninety one different arrests.

Detectives say the home on Rosewood Avenue actually served as sort of a hub for the operation where the suspects would actually manufacture and distribute crack cocaine.

During the raid investigators also seized over $76,000 worth of drugs, three guns, and a number of vehicles, and real estate.

Some of the homes had a video camera watching outside for the approach of police. Those are the sophisticated tactics that are now leading to the official acknowledgement of what is a growing attempt at formulated Hub City gangs.

All thirteen suspects are facing between 10 years to life in prison.

If you know any information on this case or even if you suspect drugs are being dealt in your neighborhood you're asked to call Crimestoppers at 232-TIPS.
