The princess and the frog opened Friday. The animated musical takes place in New Orleans. That's where Tiana meets a frog prince who wants to be human again.

But Tiana doesn't realize kissing the frog will lead to an unexpected adventure along the Mississippi River.

For one Acadiana Resident, the opening of Disney's "The Princess and the Frog," is something he's very proud of.

Grammy award winning Zydeco singer and Opelousas native Terrance Simien shared his vocals for a song on the movie's soundtrack.

He says the movie is something that ties together two things that are near and dear to him.

Terrance Simien: "As a kid I grew up dancing to Zydeco music at our church hall and grew up watching every Disney movie that came on the TV, and to think that Zydeco music is immortalized in this movie is unbelievable."

Simien says the movie is something Louisiana residents will be able to appreciate as they see their state and culture drawn out on the big screen.

He adds the native sense of humor found here in the bayou state is also featured in the movie, as he describes a scene between a prince and a firefly.

The prince has an accent, and the firefly says; "you don't sound like you from here and he said "no, I'm from a land far away from here".  and he say "what you from, Shreveport?"

Residents we spoke with are anxious to see the movie and see how is portrayed in it, and feel it may attract non-natives to come check it out.
