Monroe mayor, policeman slightly hurt in wreck

Associated Press - November 25, 2009 8:34 AM ET

MONROE, La. (AP) - State police say a driver who failed to yield at an intersection caused a wreck that slightly injured Monroe's mayor and a city police officer.

The News-Star reports Mayor Jamie Mayo and Officer Reginald Brown were released after treatment.

Mayo says he got a small cut on his forehead in the wreck, which occurred Monday evening, as he was returning in a city car from a Louisiana Asset Management Program meeting in Rayville.

State police say the other driver, 36-year-old Linda Wiley of Rayville, also was treated for minor injuries. Police say she was cited for failing to yield and driving after her license had been suspended.
