The family of the Abbeville man who was murdered and left to burn allegedly by Ferdinand Nickles spoke to TV10 about their tragedy.
Nickles was captured Friday after a 2 month long search.
The victim's family tells us it is time for justice to be served.
It's been nearly two months since Zanika Bryant lost her boyfriend Ernest Guidry Junior, and she says the pain from his loss has made life difficult.
"It's kinda hard right now. I can't think straight or nothing" says Bryant.
But when she heard the news about Guidry's alleged killer finally getting caught, she felt some comfort knowing he was finally in custody.
Bryant and Guidry had been dating for quite some time, and even had a child together, so when she received news of his death, her life came crashing down around her.
"I was in the house on the computer, and my cousin had asked if I heard the news, have I heard anything, and I told him no. But, he told me they had caught Ferdinand and I was relieved when I heard they found him."
According to US Marshals, Nickles fled the Lafayette area on a greyhound bus, using someone else's identity.
They say he stopped in New Orleans where he's originally from, then traveled to the Atlanta area where Marshals believe he resided for some time after Hurricane Katrina.
As for his fate, Zanika Bryant hopes he feels some of the pain that he's put her through.
"I want him to suffer, so I hope he gets a life sentence."
The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office is currently waiting for Nickles to be extradited from Georgia.
US Marshals tell us Nickles' arrest wouldn't be possible without their close cooperation with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office.
