LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) - Sales taxes for Livingston Parish's two largest municipalities were down again in October.
Sales tax revenues dropped 5 percent in Walker and 14 percent in Denham Springs, compared to October of 2008.
The Advocate reports Monday parish-wide sales tax revenues are down 7 percent for the fiscal year, July 1 through June 30.
Denham Springs Mayor Jimmy Durbin and Walker Mayor Bobby Font both said they have taken steps to reduce spending in light of sales-tax collections that are well below the first four months of the last fiscal year.
