Iberia Parish residents' fight to protect their water supply and lake continued Thursday.
Over a dozen citizens showed up in the state's capital, pleading to Save Lake Peigneur.
Neither the Iberia Parish Residents or AGL resources were pleased with the state's mineral board's choice to defer their decision on whether to grant AGL the chance to drill additional natural gas storage caverns under Lake Peigneur.
But what AGL didn't expect were nearly three hours of statements from over a dozen Iberia residents who made the trip to the state's capital.
Residents claim the extra pockets and drilling would potentially contaminate their drinking supply as well as reduce the impact the lake has on their community.
Residents also expressed their concern for what catastrophically could happen if even more natural gas is collected.
For AGL to move forward they would have to be given a favorable ruling during the next hearing, and then acquire an additional 21 permits before they can begin drilling.

Senator Troy Hebert spoke to the council, stating he'd like to see the drilling done elsewhere.
The State Attorney General's office claimed drilling was in the best interest of the state and its residents.
A comment that brought snickers from those opposed.
