Feeding the Troops

Posted:

A group of Lafayette men are paying their tribute to the armed forces by making them dinner.

The men, including the director of Lafayette’s detention home and a Youngsville councilman, will be headed to camp Shelby, Mississippi Thursday morning.

The group of eight will be cooking a Cajun feast for troops preparing for deployment back to Iraq.

The meal includes jambalaya, beans, yams, and Evangeline Made Bread all being brought with them when they arrive.

They will be heading back to Mississippi in February, to feed 4,000 more troops being sent overseas.

The group also plans to cook for troops and their families in Opelousas later this year.
