Duson Protest

Posted:

A group of angry Duson residents showed up outside of Tuesday night’s town hall meeting to protest their displeasure with the mayor.

It's the only way these residents say they feel they can be heard after Mayor Susie Lagneaux, two months ago, removed the public comments portion of the town meetings.

The reasoning for the decision, according to the mayor and alderman, that the residents would take that time to make repetitive and derogatory comments towards them.

It was a decision that leaves protestors feeling voiceless.

As many of the protestors, both old and young, showed up their signs pretty much spoke for themselves.

The current administration has expressed no desire to reverse their decision.

While the mayor declined to comment on camera - during the town meeting she said she hopes the building of Duson’s first community center brings the community closer together, in the long run.
