A relic of the Saint, who is recorded as the first witness of the resurrection of Christ, was here in Acadiana.
Hundreds of people visited St. Theresa Catholic Church in Abbeville to get a glimpse of what they say is a miracle and an opportunity of a lifetime.
In silence they knelt and prayed and cried at the feet of Jesus.
Elsie Marks:"we really need healing, heart healing."
But healing, those devout were convinced will come with the touch of this small reliquary carrying the tibia of one of Christianity's holiest women, Mary Magdalene.
Kim Patout: "To be that close to a saint, I didn't want to miss the opportunity to come and bring my son here to say special prayers for our family."
Christopher Patout: "I believe in miracles and think they can help people."
People like Elsie and Lucin Marks who say they can use a financial and healing miracle in their life. So like hundreds of others, they came to Saint Threse Catholic Church to get it.
Elsie Marks: "We have the faith to believe she will help."
Mary Magdalene's relics traveled thousands of miles from France to the United States for the first time in history, and just in time according to missionary Richard Borgman.
"One of the reasons I brought her was I heard about the book that said Jesus and Mary Magdalene had sex and my heart bled that someone had do much hate against the Catholic Church."
Borgman says they wanted to share the holiness of the relic, to tell the real story of the saint who is said to be the first witness to Jesus' resurrection.
Rickey Brassette: "I felt this weird feeling, in my chest, I know it's weird, but I had this weird feeling while around it."
There is no doubt some walked out changed some with comfort in their hearts, and maybe even a miracle.
