ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Police say a Glenmora man died after the car he was driving crashed in Alexandria.

Fifty-4-year-old William I. Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Alexandria Police report, an officer saw Scott's car approaching a traffic circle on MacArthur Drive at a "high rate of speed" Tuesday night.

The officer said the car ran off the left hand side of the road and went about 110 feet, where it hit the ground and then traveled over the circle. The car went another nearly 130 feet, and hit the ground again. The car flipped over and traveled about 70 more feet before it stopped.

Police say Scott was ejected when the car started to flip.
