Associated Press - October 17, 2009 11:54 AM ET

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A man sentenced to death for the sex killing of his 12-year-old stepdaughter has been granted his request to end his appeals by the Louisiana Supreme Court.

The case of Gerald Bordelon, found guilty of first-degree murder in the 2006 slaying of Courtney LeBlanc, was sent back Friday to a state district judge in Livingston Parish to have an execution date set.

After an 11-day search for the girl in November 2002, Bordelon led authorities to her body by the banks of the Amite River near Baton Rouge and then gave a taped confession. Prosecutors also had DNA evidence from Bordelon's car.
