The family of a man who died in the Iberia Parish jail files a lawsuit alleging that guards beat 43 year old Michael Jones of Abbeville to death in February.
Jones died February 13, hours after Abbeville Police arrested him for disturbing the peace and battery on a police officer.
But the family told Eyewitness News earlier this year, their loved one died tasered and assaulted by local police.
Abbeville Police denied that. They say Jones died after being arrested, examined at Abbeville General Hospital and then transported to the Iberia Parish jail where he died several hours later in a holding cell.
Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Bobby Odinet said Thursday that
investigators did not find any reason to bring criminal charges.
