Delcambre Port Renovations

Posted:

Shrimpers have echoed their struggles over and over in the last month and now a town famous for its shrimp, is feeling the economic impact.

But now port officials with the port of Delcambre are stepping forward with what they say is a transformation bound to revive their economy.

Twin Parish Port President Jeff Leblanc says a million dollars can take blighted property and transform it into a marina that houses 100 vessels, restaurants, shops and a boardwalk.

However, residents have the final say this weekend when they vote for the twin parish port district proposition which is a 5 mills property tax over a 10 year period.

The project would also create a shrimpers marketing website to promote what Delcambre has always been famous for shrimping.

The election will be this Saturday, October 17th.  If you'd like to cast your vote for the twin parish port district proposition in Vermilion and Iberia Parishes, make sure you bring your picture id.
