MONTEGUT, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say a pickup truck swerved to avoid a pit bull and hit at least five people in a Montegut yard - and the dog.
Trooper Gilbert Dardar says six people were taken to hospitals. He says a man who was sitting on an ATV and a woman who was sitting on a truck tailgate had serious leg injuries, but none were life-threatening.
He says the woman was holding a small child, but threw it out of the pickup's path.
Dardar says nobody has been cited in the Wednesday wreck on Louisiana Highway 55, but the incident is being investigated.
Witnesses told The Courier of Houma that the truck hit a man sitting on a three-wheeler, a pickup truck with two women sitting on the tailgate, and then a small shed with two adults inside.
It also hit and killed the dog.
