ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - The Glenmora man found guilty of aggravated rape during a trial in Rapides Parish last month has been sentenced to life plus 25 years.
Russell Gene Ware Jr. was found guilty as charged of aggravated rape and sexual battery in a bench trial before state District Court Judge Thomas Yeager.
Ware was sentenced to life without the benefit of parole for the rape charge and an additional 25 years for the sexual battery charge.
After Ware was indicted for the rape and sexual battery of an 11-year-old girl, Ware fled to Boston before officers could pick him up. He was arrested there and brought back to Rapides Parish.
