NATALBANY, La. (AP) - State police say a 51-year-old Meraux man was killed when he ran a stop sign and slammed into a pickup truck in Tangipahoa Parish.
Troopers say Deslatte Edsel was driving on North Stafford Road about 10 a.m. Sunday when he bypassed a stop sign at La. 1064 and hit a pickup truck, driven by 19-year-old Angellia Spitale of Albany.
Investigators say Edsel was not wearing a seat belt and was partially thrown out of his van during the crash. The Tangipahoa Coroner's Office pronounced him dead on the scene.
Spitale was taken to North Oaks Hospital for minor injuries.
